Hi, we’re Megan and Wing Bean, the tiny team behind this small-scale market garden.

Each week during the growing season, we bring hand-tended, chemical-free produce to our neighbors at the Downingtown farmers market and our Fishtown Farm Stand.

Buying local matters! It keeps the food we eat connected to the people and place behind it, supports our neighbors, and brings fresher food to the table. This farm is built through relationships as much as harvests and we're grateul for every conversation, recipe, story, and familiar face along the way.

Farming and fermentation preserve nourishment and bring us together.

We believe that food is medicine—not just for our bodies, but for our relationships with the land and each other. By embracing slow, intentional approaches we honor natural processes and hope to offer an alternative to the rush and scarcity that define much of the modern food system.

What We Grow

Our offerings change with the season and typically include:

Tomatoes - Heirloom, cherry, paste, and beefsteak varieties
Leafy Greens & Salad Mixes - Romaine & bibb lettuces, Asian spicy greens, bok choy, Chinese cabbage, mustard greens, chrysanthemum, Tokyo bekana
Roots & Storage Crops - Rainbow carrots (fresh and storage), beets, black radish, Korean radish, watermelon radish, breakfast radish
Peppers - Sweet peppers, shishitos, and chili peppers
Cucumbers - Pickling, snacking, and Korean nogak
Beans & Peas - Snow peas, long beans, and winged beans
Melons - Korean chamoe melons, bitter melons
Alliums - Garlic, garlic scapes, and French grey shallots (limited)
Sweet Potatoes - Purple, white, and orange varieties
Fresh Herbs - Perilla (kkaennip), minari (water parsley), basil, garlic chives, cilantro, Korean mint, tulsi, parsley, mint, lemon balm
Flowers & Branches - Eucalyptus and seasonal blooms

Our Approach

Through organic, regenerative farming practices, along with traditional fermentation, we grow food that nourishes the body, cares for the land, and reengages us with one another and the wisdom of our ancestors.

Our approach is guided by the principles of hwa (화), jeong (정), and sīla (실라)—harmony, deep connection, and mindful integrity.

Hwa represents the natural balance we strive for—between people and the land, past and future, growth and sustainability.
Jeong reflects the bonds we cultivate through food, farming, and shared traditions.
Sīla reminds us to act with integrity and care in all we do.

Our Chemical-Free Romance

We believe healthy soil, healthy food, and healthy bodies go hand in hand. We hold our community's health and safety with care and turn to nature’s abundance and design for support. We grow using a small number of natural, non-synthetic inputs that work in partnership with soil life and are applied thoughtfully, often well before harvest. While we still rely on some plastic in our systems, we work to minimize its use and reuse materials whenever it’s safe to do so. We share this list as part of our commitment to transparency—please reach out with any questions or experiences.

*Shellfish allergen note: Chitin-based soil amendments (such as crab meal) are broken down by naturally occurring soil microorganisms. Research shows that crab shells and chitin stimulate communities of chitin-degrading bacteria and are actively decomposed and transformed into soil nutrients over time (e.g., Wieczorek et al., 2019; USDA ARS; Li et al., 2025; Hui et al., 2020; McClure et al., 2025). We apply these materials in small amounts to the top layer of soil at the beginning of the season, at least 60 days prior to our first harvest.

Reengaging with the Land and Each Other

Cultivate an inclusive environment of belonging and rootedness where people can engage with our farm and each other based on shared values of hwa (화), jeong (정), and sīla (실라)—harmony, deep connection, and mindful integrity—honoring the wisdom of our family, spiritual, and land ancestors.

Celebrating Food as Medicine

Promote the health benefits of nutritious, locally-grown foods and fermentation, resharing knowledge about how these practices can enhance physical well-being and connect us with cultural traditions.

Sustainable and Regenerative Practices

Continuously improve and expand our farming methods by focusing on regenerative, non-extractive practices that respect the land, honor natural cycles, reduce waste, and eliminate the need for chemical interventions. We do not intentionally use GMOs, synthetic sprays, or chemical fertilizers.

Abundance in All Forms

Recognize abundance in time, resources, and relationships, emphasizing sustainable growth and moderation that avoids unnecessary urgency, scarcity, and greed.

Create a space that demonstrates how we can thrive in small settings and offers future generations of growers access to resources to cultivate their dreams, strengthen their sense of belonging, and contribute to a balanced and thoughtful world.

Meet the Farmer

Megan Storm is a South Korean-American adoptee, beginning farmer, and community developer. Before starting the farm, she spent years working alongside independent, natural winemakers practicing biodynamic agriculture and low-intervention fermentation.

From 2017-2023, Megan worked towards a more equitable food system in Philadelphia and supported community and faith-based food access and urban agriculture programs across the city. She is a also a co-founder and organizer with the Greater Philly Small Growers Collective.

Her work today brings together regenerative growing practices, fermentation traditions, and a personal reconnection to Korean foodways and seasonal living. She believes food is a way to care for one another — connecting people to land, culture, memory, and community across generations and backgrounds. Her work is grounded in stewardship, shared abundance, cultural exchange, and the belief that everyone deserves access to fresh, nourishing food grown with integrity and care for both people and the land.

Our Land

Land is understood here as an ancestor—alive, remembering, and shaping those who live in relationship with it. I farm this land as someone who grew up here, learned its seasons as a child, and returned to it with intention. I do so not as an owner, but as a temporary steward within a much longer story—one that long predates my presence.

For centuries, the lands on which we farm today were home to and cared for by the Indigenous peoples of the Susquehannock and Lenapehoking (Lenni-Lenape) Tribes. Read our full Land Acknowledgement and Access Statement.
